Much Ado About Nothing

A box containing nothing was mailed between USA and Sweden several times back and forth. Even though the Customs form stated that it contained >>Nothing<<, under the section "List of contents”, it was repeatedly opened and checked by US customs and sealed with a tape that said CONTENTS CHECKED AND SECURITY SEALED. Shortly after the fourth shipment to Sweden, the package was returned to sender in a very damaged state. The Post Office in New York had no explanation to why this happened.
By attempting to come as close to doing nothing as possible, this experiment also becomes an investigation of conventions, curiosity, suspicion and fear in general (and in the USA in particular.)
